Dataset description

In order to identify the areas with the highest nutrient input (nitrogen or phosphorus) of the Canary Region, a spatial analysis of the sources described in section 2.6. of the “Analysis of Pressures and Impacts” of the Demarcation has been carried out. Using 5 for 5 minutes mesh, the following cells have been selected: — Those that are less than 500 m from somewhere authorised for the discharge of dredged material. — Presence of aquaculture facilities. — Those that are less than 100 m from urban wastewater discharges. — Those that are less than 100 m from a PRTR discharge, both treatment plants and industrial plants, which has an obligation to report through the PRTR register of the discharged loads of total nitrogen or total phosphorus. Once all the elements are integrated, the calculation of the index has been done using the following formula: Nutritious Index = 0.25*[dragged material landfills + aquaculture facilities + untreated urban wastewater discharges] + 0.5*[WWTP discharges less 100,000 Heq] + 0.75*[WWTP discharges greater 100,000 Heq that do not report to PRTR] + 1*[industries and WWTPs reporting to PRTR by nutrients] The result is a meshed of probabilities of inputs of high nutrient loads that can therefore indicate areas with greater potential nutrient input. The following criteria have been selected to give value to the cells: Very High: 2.01 to 2.5/High: 1,01 to 2/Medium: 0.51 to 1/Low: 0.01 to 0.5/Very Low: 0
