Dataset description

The cumulative analysis of pressures has been carried out taking into account all polluting sources together. That is, an individual analysis by pollutant has not been carried out, nor has it been taken into account whether the discharge is intentional or accidental, but the areas with a greater probability of contributing pollutant loads of the Demarcation have been identified. To do this, firstly, a selection of mesh cells has been made, based on the following criteria: — Those that contain some monoboya — Those that contain some hydrocarbon platform — Those that are less than 500 m from somewhere authorised for the discharge of dredged material — Those that coincide with EMEP cells with higher loads of hazardous substances (those that add up to 50 % of total dioxin contamination and 25 % by heavy metals, starting the sum from highest to lowest) — Those that are less than 5 km from some complex of the PRTR registry that has no obligation to report through that register. — Those that are less than 2 km from the mouth of some river — Those that are less than 2 km from municipal solid waste landfills — Those that are less than 5 km from mining operations greater than 100 ha — Those that are less than 2 km from treatment plants without obligation to inform the public according to the PRTR regulation — Those that are less than 2 km from some port without traffic of dangerous goods — Those that are less than 5 km from complexes of the PRTR register with obligation to report through that register (includes industrial facilities and treatment plants) — Those that are less than 2 km from some river or body of transition water that does not meet the chemical status (according to the basin plans) — Those that are less than 5 km from a port with dangerous goods traffic — Those that overlap with a body of coastal water that does not comply with the chemical status (as indicated in the basin plans) Once all the elements are integrated, the calculation of the index has been done using the following formula: Contamination Index = 0.1*[monoboys + platforms] + 0.25*[dragged material dumps + atmospheric depositions with high concentrations of metals or POPs + industrial facilities reporting to PRTR but without obligation to report + WWTPs that do not report to PRTR + river mouths + RSU landfills + mines + WWTPs] + 0.5* [ports not carrying dangerous goods] + 0.75*[river or transition waters in poor chemical status + PRTR complexes with obligation to report] + 1*[coastal waters in bad chemical status + ports dangerous goods] The result is a mesh of probability of entry of loads of hazardous substances which can therefore indicate areas with potential risk of contamination. The selected ranges are: Very High: major 3,25/Height: 2.25 to 3,25/Medium: 1 to 2,25/Low: 0.35 to 1/Very Low: minus 0.35
