Accumulation of pressures that may cause significant changes in the salinity regime of the Levantino-Balear Demarcation (EM LEVA PRE Salinidad)

To identify those areas of the Levantino-Balear Demarcation whose saline regime can be significantly altered, a semi-quantitative index has been developed that takes into account the elements detailed below. Initially, the following 5x5 minute mesh cells have been selected: — Those containing any discharge of brine from a plant with a production capacity > 10.000 m³/day — Those located less than 5 km from a treatment plant — Those located less than 5 km from the mouth of a potentially altered river Once all the elements are integrated, the calculation of the index has been done using the following formula: Index OF MODIFICATION OF SALINO REGIME = 1*[EDAR that does not need to report to PRTR] + 2* [EDAR reporting to PRTR] + 3*[Dealers with production less than 60.000 m³/day] + 4*[drivers with production greater than 60.000 m³/day + mouths of potentially altered rivers] + 5*[disposals of the main rivers in the basins with the greatest flow disruption] Finally, everything has been added, being the resulting range of values: Very High: 9 to 10 High: 6 to 8 Medium: 4 to 5 Low: 1 to 3 Very Low: 0
