Dataset description

Areas of potential nutrient accumulation have been selected from the cells classified by the “Very High” and “High” ranges of the mesh. In addition, the previous analysis has been completed with the work carried out within the framework of OSPAR and in compliance with other directives (Water Framework Directive, Wastewater Directive and Nitrates Directive), applying the following criteria: — Areas with high potential for accumulation: when the index reaches the values of the “Very High” range and, in addition, there is some sensitive, vulnerable, potentially problematic area in application of the common OSPAR procedure or that does not reach good status by phytoplankton. — Areas of moderate potential for accumulation: when the index reaches the values of the “Very High” range but there is no sensitive, vulnerable, potentially problematic area in application of the common OSPAR procedure or that does not reach good status by phytoplankton. — Areas of moderate potential for accumulation: when the index reaches the values of the “High” range, and there is a sensitive, vulnerable, potentially problematic area in application of the common OSPAR procedure or that does not reach good status by phytoplankton.
