Cartographic limits of the Hydrographic Confederations

The mapping included in this service contains the main dividing lines that determine the territorial areas of the nine hydrographic confederations for all the purposes provided for in the Water Law and Royal Decrees 650/1987 of 8 May and 125/2007, of 2 February. This cartography is the one approved by Order TEC/921/2018, of August 30, which defines the lines that indicate the main cartographic limits of the territorial areas of the hydrographic confederations in accordance with the provisions of Royal Decree 650/1987 of 8 May, defining the territorial areas of river basin organisms and hydrological plans. The purpose of this official cartographic delimitation is to have a precise reference that specifies the exact line that indicates the boundary between the two areas, a question that sometimes gives rise to controversies based on the use of different topographic reference bases for the mapping of hydrographic dividers. This mapping does not change, as it could not be otherwise, the provisions of the aforementioned Royal Decree. This cartography only includes the limits between Hydrographic Confederations, without representing either the international borders, nor the Costa line, since the officialisation of these boundary lines (which will generate the closure in polygons of the areas of the Confederations) is not the responsibility of this Ministry.
