Census Sections of the Register of Inhabitants of Spain

The territorial delimitation of the Censal Sections establishes the scope of this statistical unit inferior to the municipality that is the basis of the update of the Register of Inhabitants. Every municipality is divided into one or more Censal Sections and there is no part of the municipality that does not belong to a Censal Section. The sections of a municipality are grouped into one or more Censal Districts and every Section belongs to a Censal District. The update of the Register of Inhabitants is made with reference to January 1 of each year and may have different units to the Electoral Census Section, due to the process of independent management of these works. There is usually a difference with the Censal Sections of the General Census, since normally the reference date is also different.
