DATASET Temporary ponds and flooded cavities

The Hydrological Plan of the Balearic Islands approved by Royal Decree 51/2019, of 8 February (PHIB 2019), protects a series of temporary ponds and flooded cavities. Temporary ponds of scientific interest are small ponds occupied by surface waters, only part of the year, but where ecological processes and very unique fauna and flora of high scientific value are developed and are associated with small endorheic basins, isolated of the influence of courses or groundwater. Flooded cavities are caves or karst systems flooded in whole or in part by fresh, brackish or salt water, in which morphogenetic processes take place. These cavities are home to specific wildlife of high scientific interest.
