Dataset description

The ATOM-based INSPIRE download service provides a simple mechanism for publishing information on the web in the form of feeds, is an XML-based document format and allows the search for updates to content published on a website. A web source can contain entries of various types, texts, images and in our case, spatial data sets. This service complies with the recommendations described in the technical guide published by the IOC Task Force for the implementation of INSPIRE download services. It is integrated into the Ministry’s IDE and interconnects with the metadata catalogue. On the other hand, the technical guide published by the IOC Task Force proposes the use of the OpenSearch standard for the implementation of the search mechanism. Open Search allows you to specify, through an XML file, the operations and their parameters in a structured and interoperable way and being recognised by the most important browsers. Currently the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment, has an ATOM syndication service that meets the proposed standard of the IETF in RFC 4287, and is complemented by OpenSearch, which provides the service interface to ATOM documents. By organisation and clarity, 2 levels of access to ATOM files are established. A main one where the entries (feed) of the list of sources “dataset” of the different products downloaded by the Ministry are defined. And another level, where for each area of activity the different links to the downloads of the “dataset” are located.
