Dataset description
The Permeability Map of Spain continuous and in digital format at 1:200,000 is made from the continuous lithostratigraphic map of Spain at 1:200,000 scale and represents the lithostratigraphic levels mapped together by similar values of permeability. For its realisation, in the first place a legend was made in which a degree of permeability is assigned for each lithostratigraphic unit mapped. Five types of permeability were established: Very high, high, medium, low and very low. The different lithologies were associated in 7 large groups (carbonated, detritic, quaternary detritic, volcanic, metadetritic, igneous and evaporitic), giving rise to a classification by types of aquifers, established according to the processes of formation of each permeability. This map can perfectly distinguish the hydrogeological domains with predominance of calcareous and evaporitic aquifers, detritic and crystalline, highlighting the main peninsular and island structural lines that bring into contact the different masses of underground water that have been defined. This mapping is adapted to the hydrographic network and shadow model made by CEDEX, at 1:200,000 scale, from the topographic base, on a 1:50,000 scale, of the Army Cartographic Service. The cartographic information refers to coordinates in projection UTM, Datum Europeo, spindle 30, except for the Canary Islands that is related to spindle 28. The map consists of the information layer of Cartographic Units (LPIT) and the external table Perme.dat, which assigns to each lithostratigraphic formation (FH) the degree of permeability as well as the color of representation. The format of the generated information is Shape file.
