Map of Physiographic Units of the Andalusian Litoral: 2003

The Map of Physiographic Units exclusively represents the units genetically associated with coastal processes such as wind mantle, marshes, coastal platforms, etc. In addition, units of river and fluviocoluvial origin have been included, taking into account that through them the sedimentary connection is produced continent/coast. On the other hand, when its morphological entity was adequate to the scale of work, some representative terrace systems and fluviocoluvial formations have been included. Finally, units of anthropic origin are also included; urban, infrastructure, etc.; units that, despite not being physiographic, are of great relevance in the Andalusian coast, given their extent and their ability to alter the physiognomy of the units that come into contact with them. The associated database proposes a hierarchical coding that will be the basis for the extraction of derived cartography, structured in three fundamental levels of aggregation. The average scale of the map can be set at 1:50,000, although it should be considered that the scale for capturing the information has usually been 1:25,000 and occasionally larger, which allows, from the point of view of screen display, a maximum scale of 1:15,000 and minimum of 1:100,000.
