Soil information is symbolised by two distinct aspects: soil cartographic units and soil phases.
The map of soil cartographic units describes the different types of soils defined in units and each unit can contain between 1 and 3 series. Therefore, in each enclosure we can have a type of soil, two or up to a maximum of three.
The soil phase map describes those soils that have a certain characteristic that differentiates them from other soils of the same unit and, therefore, is mapped in a different enclosure. In many cases these phases refer to salt content, in others to erosion, stinginess, presence of outcrops or slope.
The minimum representative enclosure on a 1/25,000 scale map is 2.5 ha.
