Dataset description

This Inventory aims to locate, quantify and analyse the evolution of erosive phenomena, with the ultimate aim of delimiting as accurately as possible the priority areas of action in the fight against erosion, as well as defining and evaluating the actions to be carried out, within the plans and programmes whose elaboration is also attributed by Royal Decree 1415/2000, establishing the organizational structure of the Ministry of the Environment. The realisation of the Inventory is structured with a provincial base in order to be able to take advantage and use the most recent information that is being generated both in the National Forestry Inventory (IFN) and in the Forest Map of Spain 1:50000 (MFE50) work also carried out by this Directorate General and elaborated at provincial level. From the quantitative and qualitative points of view, the surface water erosion of laminar type or in wastewater is the one that is most relevant for its influence on the degradation of natural systems, the loss of productivity of the land and the alteration of hydrological processes, especially when considering anthropically accelerated erosion, mainly caused by the breakage of land on slope and the indiscriminate application of inadequate agricultural practices, which is what causes the large losses of soil. The main objective of the work was to obtain a cartography of current quantitative levels of soil losses due to surface water erosion of laminar type or in watersheds, through the application of the RUSLE model (Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation, Universal Equation of Revised Soil Losses), because it allows to determine the losses that are caused in the soil in an objective way from the calculation of the different factors that intervene. In laminar erosion and in wastewater, the territory is classified according to qualitative levels of soil loss. The inventory is carried out between the years 2002-2019.
