Dataset description

Node of the Environmental Information Network of Andalusia. Junta de Andalucia. Set of satellite images AQUA MODIS anomalies per month of k490 (Water Transparency) for 2014 compared to the average period 2000-2014. Spatial resolution 1 100 m. Area Atlantic Ocean and Alboran Sea. In ETRS89 UTM spindle 30. In order to obtain the monthly anomalies in the behavior of k490 (Water Transparency) (m-1) in the marine environment, corresponding to the last year of study, with respect to its average monthly behavior throughout the historical series 2000-2014. With these images, we can observe the increase or decrease of this parameter, which indicates how light is attenuated inside the water column, helping to characterise the transparency of the water and therefore estimate the state of turbidity of the waters of the marine environment. In addition, this parameter has many applications in ocean optics, such as its relationship with the concentration of phytoplankton and organic and inorganic sediments dissolved in marine water. Node of the Environmental Information Network of Andalusia. Junta de Andalucia. Integrated into the Spatial Data Infrastructure of Andalusia, following the guidelines of the Andalusian Cartographic System.
