Dataset description

WMS service corresponding to the Cost Vulnerability Index at sea level rise or CVI (Coastal Vulnerability Index), which easily determines the physical response of the coast to sea level rise. Using six basic parameters that categorises each section of 500 m width aligned along the coast line according to 4 levels of vulnerability index (low, moderate, high and very high). Each parameter considered (topography, geomorphology, erosion, sea level, significant wave height and tidal range) is in turn classified into 5 levels according to its incidence on coastal vulnerability based on its intrinsic characteristics. Thus, for example, at greater height of the significant wave, greater vulnerability, higher values of coastal progradation (positive erosion) lower vulnerability, etc. The values of the vulnerability indicators generated only attempt to assess the relative intrinsic susceptibility to an adverse event, and not the magnitude or probability of occurrence of the same, nor in any way attempt to quantify damages or costs. Any attempt to compare and associate indicator values with impacts should therefore be carried out with great caution, although, on the contrary, they indicate the potential areas where more detailed studies should be carried out in the future for a detailed assessment of the risks and impacts associated with the foreseeable sea level rise. They also provide a reasonable starting point for decision-making for managers and for contextualising adaptation measures. Node of the Environmental Information Network of Andalusia. Junta de Andalucia. Integrated into the Spatial Data Infrastructure of Andalusia, following the guidelines of the Andalusian Cartographic System.
