Dataset description

WMS Service of Desertification inherited in Andalusia (Assessment and multi-temporal monitoring of desertification in Andalusia through a Geographic Information System within the DESERTNET II Project). Referring to areas where since ancient times the processes causing desertification have been affected, causing a degradation of the productive capacity of the lands in the territory in such a way that to obtain agricultural production it is necessary to use technological elements and inputs of high value, in addition to having to carry out actions on the environment of strong environmental impact. They are lands where desertification is a natural process to which human actions on the environment have been adapted since historical times. Based on information related to climate, geomorphology, soils and climax vegetation and through its analysis and combination, a complex diagnosis has been made that determines the areas where it can be considered as inherited desertification. This combination of factors has formed desert landscapes that constitute in themselves areas of high ecological and landscape value. Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning. Junta de Andalucía, 2008. Node of the Environmental Information Network of Andalusia. Junta de Andalucia. Integrated into the Spatial Data Infrastructure of Andalusia, following the guidelines of the Andalusian Cartographic System.
