Dataset description

Node of the Environmental Information Network of Andalusia. Junta de Andalucia. Web service of the Visual Limits Map Horizons integrated within the line of work of the Visibility System of Andalusia (SVA). The VAS contains the data and procedures necessary to model the actual or potential visual relationships existing between the different locations of the territory, up to a distance called — maximum visibility — established at 15 km; the result is a collection of visual parameters defined for more than 11 million observation points distributed homogeneously throughout the Andalusian territory. Among them is the parameter called ‘visual horizons’, which calculates at each observation point which are the last (most distant from the observer) points of each group of visible points. These points precisely delimit the different perceptible visual planes, generating the visual structure of the terrritory. The Digital Visual Limits Model, with a resolution of 20 m, contains information about the frequency (for how many observation points) with which each point in the territory is ‘of horizon’. The most frequent points are organised in rows that usually coincide with the -cordals- of the relief. This model does not depend on the distribution of observers over the territory, and can therefore be considered as a physical property intrinsic to the geometry of the terrain. Node of the Environmental Information Network of Andalusia. Junta de Andalucia. Integrated into the Spatial Data Infrastructure of Andalusia, following the guidelines of the Andalusian Cartographic System.
