Dataset description

Node of the Environmental Information Network of Andalusia. Junta de Andalucia. Satellite images ENVISAT MERIS of chlorophyll-a of the year 2012. Spatial resolution 300 m. Scope Andalusia. In ETRS89 UTM spindle 30. With the aim of obtaining a monitoring of the quality of the water reservoirs in order to have a rapid response to states of pollution that allows to respond to the needs of water management of reservoirs. In this sense, the mean behavior of chlorophyll-a (mg/cm³), of the main reservoirs of the region (72 reservoirs are studied), is obtained through the calculation of a standardised index, developed with the band 5 (560 nm) and band 2 (442 nm) of the MERIS sensor. This parameter allows the estimation of the concentration of phytoplankton and indirectly of the biological activity, in addition to being used as a tool for monitoring the eutrophication processes in the monitoring of the quality of the reservoired waters. Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning. Junta de Andalucia. Node of the Environmental Information Network of Andalusia. Junta de Andalucia. Integrated into the Spatial Data Infrastructure of Andalusia, following the guidelines of the Andalusian Cartographic System.
