With the aim of obtaining a monitoring of the quality of the water reservoirs in order to have a rapid response to states of pollution that allows to respond to the needs of water management of reservoirs.
In this sense, the mean behavior of phycocyanin (mg/cm³), of the main reservoirs of the region (72 reservoirs are studied), is obtained from the relationship between the band 9 (705 nm) and the band 6 (620 nm) of the MERIS sensor.
This parameter is an auxiliary pigment that allows the estimation of the concentration of cyanobacteria, whose proliferation can lead to water toxicity, and can also be used as a monitoring tool for eutrophication processes in monitoring the quality of the reservoired waters.
