Node of the Environmental Information Network of Andalusia. Junta de Andalucia. Seasonal mean of NDVI calculated from NOAA satellite images captured by the AVHRR (Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer) sensor. The AVHRR sensor collects information in 5 spectral bands: visible, near-infrared and 3 in the thermal infrared, all with a resolution of 1 000 m. The NDVI reflects the characteristics and vital state of the vegetation. This parameter allows to obtain information on chlorophyll and water content in the leaves, net flow of carbon dioxide, net productivity, foliar area index, potential evapotranspiration, etc. Applied to the image highlights the areas of greater vegetation and those of bare soil.
