Research study of hydrogeological resources in Andalusia (Mediterranean basin, Atlantic basin and Sierra Norte de Sevilla) carried out by the company ‘Hydrogeological Research Technics, S.A’ (TIHGSA) for the ‘extinct’ Andalusian Water Agency (current Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Environment) with the intermediation of EGMASA (current Environment and Water Agency). Thermal Remote Tomography (TRT) is a geophysical prospecting technique that applies remote sensing, along with geological, hydrogeological and geophysical interpretation for the research of deep hydrogeological resources (up to 4000 meters deep) on a regional scale. It is based on the analysis of the anomalies that exist in the terrestrial geothermal field that are reflected as a geophysical signal in the terrestrial surface thermal field, which is recorded by remote sensors. The work requires the application of remote sensing techniques for the treatment of satellite images and the elimination of surface thermal noise.
