WMS service belonging to the Node of the Institute of Statistics and Cartography of Andalusia, Junta de Andalucía, integrated in the Spatial Data Infrastructure of Andalusia
The Map of Andalusia Multiscale provides a Reference Cartographic Base to the users of the Spatial Data Infrastructure of Andalusia, with a harmonised image of the Autonomous Community, from the small scale of the whole of Andalusia, to the scale of detail with 1:2,000 and lower scales, which allows a navigation without jumps and with common styles in each and every one of the zoom levels offered by this service.
To achieve this objective, official cartographic series in vector format have been used as data sources at all levels, for which the following phases have been carried out:
1. Identification and selection of appropriate official mapping sources, conveniently correlating zoom levels with scales, with the aim of making cartographic generalisation appropriate to the selected visualisation level.
2. Generation of a common thematic legend, with the aim of avoiding thematic discontinuities in the different leaps of scale.
3. Preparation of common representation styles, with the aim of maintaining the continuity of the symbology of geographical objects at different scales.
2. Improvements in the generation of styles, with the aim of bringing the image of the map on the Web as close as possible to the traditional image of the paper map, by improving the toponymy and improving the treatment of linear elements.
