Dataset description

One of the main aspects to be considered in the delimitation of areas for the development of offshore wind farms is related to their impacts on biodiversity and marine habitats. To this end, the Directorate-General for Biodiversity, Forests and Desertification (DGBBD, MITECO) has established a series of criteria for the delimitation of areas in which either the location of offshore wind installations is not admissible due to the presence of marine habitats and species of interest, which must be protected, or should be the subject of a more detailed study. This mapping contains the defined areas with a ban on wind installation (whether pivoted or floating) as well as areas with greater restrictions for the installation of wind due to their environmental value.
