Dataset description

Historical and future data set, consisting of some of the climate indicators obtained under the ESCENARIOS II projects (KLIMATEK call 2017) and URBAN KLIMA 2050 (LIFE 18 IPC/ES/000001 LIFE-IP URBAN KLIMA 2050), namely the following: maximum Average Temperature (TX), Minimum Average Temperature (TN), Average Temperature (TG), Average Annual Precipitation (PRCPTOT), Number of Wet Days (RR1), Reference Evapotranspiration (ET0), Maximum Number of Dry Days (CDD), Maximum Rainfall in 5 Days (Rx5day), Average Heat Wave Duration (HWF), Maximum Average Precipitation (TX90P) and Number of Warm Days (TX90P). These indicators are of high spatial resolution (approximately 1 km*1km) and correspond to four temporary windows: a historical window (1971-2000) obtained from historical series of weather stations and three future windows (2011-2040; 2041-2070; 2071-2100) obtained from the data from the simulations of the Euro-CORDEX initiative. Indicators, both for the RCP8.5 scenario (ESCENARIES II) and for RCP4.5 (URBAN KLIMA 2050), were obtained after applying bias correction techniques to the Euro-CORDEX simulations (correction “EQM-Empirical Quantile Mapping”) (Wilke et al., 2013; Gutierrez et al., 2017), which have allowed a better adjustment of the models and achieve, in addition to a high spatial resolution, also a high temporal resolution.
