Dataset description

The Inventory of Emissions of Pollutants to the Atmosphere is developed in order to evaluate and update annually anthropogenic emissions by sources of pollutants regulated by the “Geneva Convention on Long-Distance Transboundary Air Pollution” and the “National Emission Ceilings Directive”, in accordance with current international and Community standards and standards. The calculation methodologies adopted ensure the comparability of the annual data series with those of other countries, within the framework of the above-mentioned international conventions. This inventory therefore includes statistical information for both acidifying and eutrophicing substances, as well as ground-level ozone precursors and particulate matter in statistical series from 1990 to the present. In this context, the European Union has over time adopted a set of legal provisions requiring Member States to develop information systems on emission inventories and to develop projections of future developments of air pollutants and greenhouse gases under different scenarios. In addition to the synthesis information on emissions of pollutants into the air, you can also consult the existing legislation on air quality and air emissions and have direct access to the thematic web pages on the subject.
