Map of the axes of the livestock roads of Castilla y León: provinces of Ávila, León, Palencia, Salamanca, Segovia and Soria. The livestock routes are the routes or itineraries through which the livestock transit runs or has traditionally been running. Likewise, they have for all purposes the consideration of livestock roads, resthouses, troughs, majadas and any other type of land or installation attached to those, that serve the transhumante cattle and the shepherds who lead it. Although it was the transfer of cattle that gave rise to the livestock roads, today transhumance and transterminance are residual activities, icon of times not so distant in time, and yet so different. The information contained in this layer summarises the best available cartographic knowledge of the situation of the livestock roads of Castilla y León by the regional administration. However, it is neither complete nor exhaustive, it is not homogeneous for the whole territory. IT LACKS LEGAL VALUE AND IS MADE PUBLICLY AVAILABLE FOR INFORMATION AND GUIDANCE PURPOSES. This mapping, which has a partial and incomplete coating of the regional livestock network, will be updated and expanded.
