Dataset description

Information of the persons, groups or entities that have received the Medal of Andalusia from 1985 to the current year. The document contains: awarded, award, year, profession, city, link to the decree in BOJA and URL to additional information. The Andalusian Medals were created in 1985 to recognise exceptional or extraordinary merits, actions and services performed in peacetime by Andalusian, Spanish or foreign citizens, groups or entities. In 1998 the Gold and Silver modalities were eliminated and a single category was established, which was renamed the Andalusian Medal. In December 2019, the Governing Council approved [decree](https://www.juntadeandalucia.es/boja/2019/526/1) regulating the Honorary Distinctions of the Community. This decree establishes nine categories for the award of medals: Social Sciences and Letters; Arts; Sport; Solidarity and Concordia; Economy and Enterprise; Research, Science and Health; Projection of Andalusia; Environmental merit and human values, as well as the Andalusian Medal ‘Manuel Clavero’ in recognition of the special trajectory of a natural or legal person, group or entity, in the defense and promotion of the general interest of Andalusia.
