Dataset description

The Island Plan of Planning of the Island of La Palma (PIOLP) is the instrument for the management of the natural, territorial and urban resources of the island. The territorial scope of the Plan is the entire extension of the island of La Palma. The PIOLP defines the model of organisation and use of the territory to ensure its sustainable development. Sustainability is taken as a general premise for the definition of a territorial model that guarantees a harmonious and environmentally friendly development. In order to implement this integrated and sustainable territorial model in accordance with the General Planning Guidelines, this Island Plan establishes the following guiding principles: The island as a reference unit Natural and environmental values as a resource, Biosphere Reserve as a general framework Agriculture as an expression of the relationship with the territory and as an economic and social reference Insularity and relationship with the outside: the gates of access The local population as protagonist Infrastructures: support and service to economic activities The guarantee of accessibility and the promotion of public transport Island, local and tourist facilities Urban centers, rural and agricultural settlements Tourism as a future option More information: http://pter.cablapalma.es/PIOLP/index.php
