Dataset description

The activities of tourism and thermalism for people with disabilities are carried out within the General Regime of subsidies of the Imserso and aim to facilitate access for citizens to the goods of leisure, culture and health in the most accessible conditions possible. This also affects the personal and social integration of people who travel as well as the rest of their families/carers. Indirectly, the actions also contribute to the creation of jobs in sectors such as tourism, or thermal care, since in addition to the hiring of personnel directly made by the entities to organise and develop the shifts, the trips collaborate with the occupation of places in hotels and in spas. This report contains a general analysis of the management data of the actions, from its inclusion in the General Scheme of Grants of the then Ministry of Social Affairs in 1995, to the management data for 2015, the last available. It includes data on beneficiaries according to their Communities of residence and according to the Communities of travel destinations, as well as data on their profile, namely age, degree of disability, sex and income. Non-profit entities that pay their attention, exclusively and habitually, to people with disabilities have been able to attend the different calls for these grants. In addition, they must have the scope of State action according to their constitutive title, and comply with the requirement that the beneficiaries travelling come from at least ten Autonomous Communities. To be a beneficiary of the actions, people must have a disability equal to or greater than 33 per 100 and be over 16 years of age. However, applicants do not necessarily have to be associated with any of the subsidised entities, as these actions are open to any person with disabilities who meets the requirements set out in the Call Resolution.
