Dataset description

Barriärkartor is a package containing road and rail map layers showing barriers and potential passages for larger mammals. The material is vector data and is based on information from the Swedish Transport Administration’s bridge database (Batman) where withdrawals took place in 2017 and 2019 and where barriers, passages and effect areas were theoretically calculated based on certain criteria such as traffic volume, design, etc. The material is supplied with a.lyr-file that controls visualisation and helps in interpreting the material. Delivery Format — ESRI SHAPE. Content — 1) “Barriäranalys.lyr” = loads all other shape files and controls the layout of the maps (should be opened first) 2) Potential passages: ‘Potentiella_passager_2020.shp’ = All road or railway barrier plan details with potential function for larger mammals. 3) Effect range of potential road crossings “Effectomrade_potential_passager_vag_2020.shp” = Circles illustrating the theoretical barrier dissolving power distance of passages. This distance can be 500, 1000, 1500 or 2000 meters depending on how high the functionality the passage is potentially able to achieve. 4) Road barrier sections: “Constant_vagbarriar_2020.shp” = Road sections constituting barriers according to a number of criteria. 5) Residual road barrier: “vagbarriar_2020.shp” = the road barrier sections remaining after distances inside the distance of passages and within agglomerations have been excluded. 6) Effect area of potential rail crossings: “Effectomrade_potential_passager_jarnvag_2020.shp” = Circles illustrating the theoretical barrier dissolving power distance of passages. This distance can be 500, 1000, 1500 or 2000 meters depending on how high the functionality the passage is potentially able to achieve. 7) Rail barrier sections: “Residual_jarnvagsbarriar_2020.shp” = railway sections constituting barriers according to a number of criteria. 8) Quarterly railway barrier: ‘jarnvagsbarriar_2020.shp’ = the rail barrier sections remaining after distances inside the distance of passages and within agglomerations have been excluded. 9) Urban buffer: ‘Tatorter_50mBuffert_2020.shp’ = LMV urban layer with a buffer of 50 metres.
