Dutch newspapers

The Royal Library’s foreign collection contains more than 1200 issues of 11 Dutch newspapers from the period 1610-1809. The majority (approximately 1100) of these are from the 17th century and just over 800 from before 1650. Most of them are missing in Dutch libraries and they were digitised on behalf of the Dutch National Library in 2010. They are available in the Dutch Delpher search service https://www.delpher.nl/nl/kranten. According to Folke Dahl, the chief connoisseur of these newspapers, they have probably been attached to the newsletters that Swedish representatives in Holland had to send to the King’s Office. They have then ended up in the National Archives and later transferred to the Royal Library (see Lychnos 1938, pp. 58-59).
