Dataset description

The data product consists of the object type Bank attached to the Swedish state railway network. The bank is the part of the railway track that is at the very bottom. The bank also has the term ‘road underbuilding’. The railway superstructure consists of Ballast, Sliper and Räl. For more information on the parts that make up the Rail Superstructure, please refer to the respective data product specification. The bank is the bottom layer in the construction of the railway track and is the one that will carry up the entire weight of railway superstructure and train load. In newly built railways, the railway substructure is often fixed bedrock or coarsely crushed stone. Buoyancy and drainage capabilities are extremely important for the runway to be sustainable and safe. In some cases, the bank is replaced by a bridge, road gate, tunnel or cutting into soil or rock. Cuts are described in more detail in “data product specification Cutting”. Bank describes the height and width of the bank, as the material used for filling and separating the different layers of material. The data product has stretch spread. For instances on the state network, the product is connected to the railway network with reference to the previous node and the nearest previous kilometre board with distance in meters to both the starting and the end of the route in the direction of the track link. For bodies on the non-governmental network, the product is linked to the network with reference to the previous node. In some cases, reference to the previous kilometreboard with distance in metres in the direction of the track link is also available on the non-governmental network.
