Dataset description

Analysis of risk forests for infestation of spruce bark with zone rings from protected areas. The material is aimed at the counties that are part of the control area for spruce bark drills, i.e. for large parts of Götaland and Svealand. Forests in the Swedish Forest Agency’s risk index are described here as risk forests. In principle, it is spruce forests with a risk of infestation of spruce bark drills. These have been identified due to age, volume, habitat, etc. In order to provide a clear picture of how risk forests are distributed in and around each nature reserve or national park, the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency has conducted a spruce forest analysis with zone rings. In this, the risk forests in and around each protected area are mapped in zones to show: • How much risk forest there is in each nature reserve, national park etc. • How much risk forest there is in the vicinity i.e., directly adjacent to the nature reserve, 1-300 meters from risk forest in nature reserves • How much risk forest there is in the outer vicinity, i.e. 301-500 meters from the risk forest in nature reserves • Also includes risk forests from the surrounding zone to give a picture of the situation in the landscape, 501-1000 meters from risk forests in nature reserves. The documentation is intended to serve as a knowledge base for the County Administrative Boards in the work to reduce attacks from spruce bark drills in protected forests. But the shape files and statistics in the attached excel file can of course be of interest to others as well.
