Dataset description

AM.Basic water bodies are adapted to comply with INSPIRE data specification for theme Areas with specific management/limitation/regulation, as well as reporting units. AM.Basic water bodies report the presence of groundwater identified in water management. Water management is working to comply with the requirements of the Water Framework Directive 2006/60/EC) and the Groundwater Directive (2006/118/EC) and others. The boundaries of groundwater bodies coincide mainly with SGU’s mapped groundwater reservoirs in sand and gravel, as well as in sedimentary and crystalline aquifers, but are specifically defined for the purposes of water management. Groundwater bodies are found in soil or mountains that have particularly good conditions for groundwater extraction. Groundwater bodies are important resources for, inter alia, drinking water supply.
