Beach erosion, coast (view service)

The Stranderosion, coast view service contains information about erosion conditions along the southern shores of southern Sweden. Based on detailed mapping of beaches and seabed around the coast, erosion conditions and erosion sensitivity have been assessed and calculated using two different methods. A classification has been made into different beach types according to the geology, topography and sediment dynamics of the beaches. The different types of beach are characterised by different erosion conditions depending on whether the beaches are mainly characterised by storage, erosion or mainly in balance and the speed of erosion.In addition, a forecast is shown for which erosion conditions can be expected in the future at a sea level rise of about 1 m. The sensitivity of beaches to erosion is shown with an estimated erosion index, based on an analysis of soils on beaches and seabeds, slopes, erosion processes and sediment budgets on beaches and seabeds, and wind and wave exposure. In connection with the field collection, hard erosion protections have been invented and routes with active erosion have been mapped.
