Dataset description

The soil depth model provides a very comprehensive image of the power of the earth cover. The soil depth has been calculated by interpolation of known earth depth data, obtained by: for example, drilling. In support of the interpolation between observation points include surface-covered soil information used. The soil depth is very important in a number of different areas. Some examples are the planning of different types of construction, infrastructure and groundwater protection. In such a planning includes, among other things, finding appropriate technical solutions and cost estimates depend on soil depth. In many cases do you want to avoid large depths of soil, for example, avoid high costs associated with drilling. In other cases large soil depths are an advantage, for example because the soil layers has a great storage capacity for groundwater.
