Dataset description

The county administrative boards’ public data set for banning fires in accordance with the Act (2003:778) on protection against accidents. A county administrative board or a municipality may decide to impose and lift a fire ban in forests and land. The purpose of the fire ban is to prevent forest fires. A municipality may have other fire bans or rules under other legislation to, for example, counteract negative effects on the environment and health in built-up areas or protect special buildings. Information about such prohibitions is sought from each municipality. Provides information on, inter alia: • Who has taken a decision on the ban on fires; • The starting date of the fire ban; • Link to the decision on the ban on fire or link to more information on the ban on fires on another website, and • The status of banning of fires in the respective municipality; There are five different types of status of fire bans that can be specified. They are: 1. banning fire, 2. No ban on fire, 3. tightening the fire ban; 4. other ban on fire, and 5. Not specified If there is a complete lack of information, status not specified, for a municipality, this means that there is no information on a fire ban from that municipality or that the service is not used by the county administrative board to which the municipality belongs. However, this does not mean that there is no fire ban. The information in the dataset is updated by the county administrative boards that use it, when a county administrative board or municipality has decided to impose or lift a fire ban and reported to the county administrative board. In order to know exactly what the existing ban on fire means, more information is sought from the respective municipality or county administrative board. Status Prohibition of Fire and Strengthened Fire Prohibition is based on a guidance from the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency. Technical updates of information on fire bans become visible in the data set at each full hour between 7:00 and 18:00.
