Dataset description

The County Administrative Boards’ mapping service for fire bans in accordance with the Accident Protection Act (2003:778). A county administrative board or a municipality may decide to introduce and lift a fire ban in forests and land. The purpose of the fire ban is to prevent forest fires. A municipality may have other fire bans or regulations under other legislation to, for example, counteract negative impacts on the environment and health in urban areas or protect special buildings. Information about such prohibitions is sought from each municipality. The basis for this map service is also provided in the form of WMS-service and Map Service that can be used in own GIS programs and applications. Specifies information about, among other things: Who made the decision on the fire ban; • The starting date of the fire ban; • Link to the decision on the fire ban or link to more information about the fire ban on another website; • Status of fire ban in each municipality. There are five different types of status of fire ban that can be specified. They are: 1. Fire ban, 2. no fire ban, 3. tightened fire ban, 4. another fire ban; and 5. not specified If there is no information, status not specified, for a municipality, it means that there is no information about a fire ban from that municipality or that the service is not used by the county administrative board the municipality belongs to. However, this does not mean that there is no fire ban. The information in the map service is updated by the county administrative boards that use the map service, when a county administrative board or municipality has decided to impose or lift a fire ban and reported to the county administrative board. To know exactly what the current fire ban means, more information is sought from each municipality or county administrative board. The Swedish Agency for Civil Contingencies and the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency are based on guidance from the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency. Technical updates of information on fire bans will be visible in the map service at each full hour between 7:00 and 18:00.
