Dataset description

The size of the catchment area at different locations in the water system is a basic hydrological task. The watershed constitutes the boundary of a river basin and determines which soils affect water conditions at a given point in the water system. Water planning and water conditions studies often require detailed information on river basins. The database divides Sweden into 50829 sub-basins. River basins have been designated for inlets and outlets to larger lakes, the estuary of tributaries, water flow stations and more. River basins have also been designated for the water bodies that reported to the EU in accordance with Article 5 of the WFD.
