Main road network

The data product includes roads that are decided by the Government to be classified as a main road and form a coherent national backbone/main road network. The State through the Swedish Transport Administration is the road manager for roads that are part of the main road network and thus has responsibility for, among other things, planning of operation, maintenance and bearing capacity. The national core road network forms part of the Swedish main road network and consists of public roads that are of particular importance for the welfare development of the country and which must be of a high and uniform standard. The roads forming part of the national core road network are financed under the budget of the National Transport System Plan, while the other public roads are included in regional infrastructure plans.
