Dataset description

Map layers of watercourse lines representing the direction of flow of surface water in runways and lakes within river basins in Sweden or on the border with Norway and Finland. The lines follow the watercourses that are mapped in the Land Survey’s scale 1: 250000 and if necessary added items that are not in the overview map. In the water surfaces encoded in the SVAR database as runways or sea surfaces, the network lines have been drawn manually. In these surfaces, all tributaries are connected to a line representing a main branch. The network is structured in such a way that each hydrological phenomenon is linked to a defined main gene. The network of lines continues into the sea to a flow line starting at the top of the Bothnian Bay and ending on the border between Skagerrak and the North Sea. Using the line in the sea, all streams that estuate in the sea can be sorted in order from the Torne River at the Finnish border to the mouth of the Enningdal River in Skagerrak.km². River basins have been designated for inlets and outlets to larger lakes, the estuary of tributaries, water flow stations and more. River basins have also been designated for the water bodies that reported to the EU in accordance with Article 5 of the WFD. The main catchment areas are purple in the map, sub-basins appear in finer zoom levels and are marked with a red border line.
