Dataset description

Göta River Valley is one of Sweden’s most polluted areas. Several large screeds have taken place in modern times and our mapping of scratches shows that many areas along the Göta River have continued to have a high risk of scrubbing. On behalf of the Government, the scavengers along the Göta River including the Nordre River were mapped in 2009-2011 in light of the need to manage increased flows in the river in the future. The mission identified both the current situation and the changes that are taking place as a result of climate change. Assignments also included improving and developing methods for mapping and valuing risks. The assignment has resulted in an overall risk analysis with calculations of the probability of scratching and the evaluation of the consequences that may result from it. By identifying different risk areas, an assessment has been made of where geotechnical reinforcement measures should be carried out. An overview of the cost assessment of the geotechnical elements of the reinforcement measures has been carried out for areas with high scarcity risks. In addition, an overall assessment of the geotechnical conditions for increased flows in the Göta River is presented. In April 2012, the so-called Göta River Mission (Gäu) was reported in the form of three main reports — 1.Societal implications; 2.Characterisation; 3.Maps (33 A3 sheets 1:10.000) — and 34 technical interim reports. See further www.swedgeo.se and http://www.swedgeo.se/upload/Publikationer/Gota%20alvutredningen/GAU_slutrapport_del3.pdf (Part 3 maps). Risk is a combination of the probability of shred (qualified geotechnical assessment work based on a large amount of digital data, including a detailed terrain model for land and river) and the consequence of a shred (taking into account life/population, property values, transport infrastructure, energy and telecommunications distribution, hazardous to the environment activity, etc.). Reporting is carried out in accordance with the directives in the government assignment and according to current technical and geotechnical analysis models. [Geotechnology]
