Dataset description

Sweden has 15 World Heritage Sites. This layer contains information about the two identified because of their natural values. A World Heritage Site is a cultural or natural monument that is so valuable that it is a concern for all of humanity. It is a place, place, environment or object that in a very unique way bears witness to the history of the earth and of man. The World Heritage List is based on the UNESCO Convention for the Protection of the World’s Natural and Cultural Heritage, adopted in 1972. Sweden signed the Convention in 1985. The World Heritage Site Lapponia was designated in 1996 and the High Coast in 2000. The boundaries of the areas are approximate.
