Dataset description

The results obtained in the context of the application of the climate model FITNAH have led to a comprehensive current assessment of the climate situation within the canton of ZH. In accordance with the VDI Directive 3787, sheet 1, the climate analysis map presents “the spatial climate characteristics of a reference area that adjust due to land use and topography.” The thermal and dynamic conditions are presented. The aim of the maps is to distinguish the canton’s areas according to their different climatic function, i.e. their effect on other spaces. The starting point is the division of the study space into bioclimatic and/or air-hygienically polluted settlement spaces (effect room) on the one hand and on the other hand, cold-air producing, undeveloped and vegetation-shaped areas (compensation room). Provided that these spaces do not directly adjoin each other and the air exchange processes are strong enough, linearly oriented, low-surface open surfaces (airwayways) can connect both with each other. A complex picture of the process system of the air exchange flows of the compensatory space-effect space structure results from the mutual delimitation of favor and negative dreams as well as the connecting structures. In order to fully address the importance of the environmental area (urban) climate, for the first time comprehensive model simulations were carried out with the mesoscale climate model FITNAH 3D. The required input data and analysis results were prepared in this first application with a spatial resolution of 25 m x 25 m.
