Collection of Europe

The Museum der Kulturen Basel (MKB) is Switzerland’s largest ethnological museum and one of the most important of its kind in Europe. His collection enjoys world reputation and has more than 340,000 objects. Around 75,000 objects in this collection belong to the European Department. They have been collected from all parts of the continent from 1904 to the present day.The published data are mostly unadjusted. There were inconsistencies, errors and omissions both during the first cataloguing of the objects and the transcription into the database. Terminology contained in it can now be inaccurate, outdated, or racist insulting.
