Dataset description
The forest districts regulate the territorial competence of the cantonal forestry service in the canton of Zurich. The district forest masters protruding to the forest circles are the primary contact persons for questions in the forest. With the decision of the Directorate of Economics of 4 June 4.6.2002, the forest district was redefined from 1.9.2002. The boundaries of the forest districts run along municipal boundaries and correspond in principle to those of the planning regions. Deviating from this classification criterion, the district border is used in the area of the Bachsertal, as the planning region Unterland comprises a large number of municipalities. Also in the area of Zurich-Kloten airport, the division according to planning regions is deviated so that all municipalities adjacent to the airport are assigned to the same forest district.
