Dataset description

Since the Bologna Declaration was implemented, ECTS credit points have been used as a measure for academic achievements at universities. This publication uses ECTS to draw a detailed picture of the study intensity (expressed as a percentage of full-time studies) at Swiss universities. The publication provides an overview of the activities of the students in the academic years 2013/14 to 2017/18 at universities and pedagogical universities. The analysis is not only limited to the individual academic years, but also calculates the study intensity averaged over the entire study period. At which universities, at which levels of study and in which disciplines are studied with what intensity? Is the study intensity greater at the beginning of the study than at the end? Is the study intensity higher for women than men and are there differences according to the age or educational origin of the students? These and other questions are answered on the basis of figures.
