Dataset description

Coatou consists of codes and names of all administrative-territorial objects of Ukraine, which are grouped on the basis of territorial community, historical, economic, geographical, ethnic and cultural characteristics. The whole set of objects of classification is distributed on a territorial basis and administrative subordination to four levels of hierarchical classification. Each level of classification includes objects that are subordinate to objects of the previous level. The source of information for updating the COATU is the decisions of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, published in the "Vidomosti of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine", as well as published data on administrative and territorial units on the portal of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (heading "Resources", reference book "Administrative-territorial structure"). KOATU is designed to ensure the reliability, comparability, integrity and automated processing of information in a territorial context.
