The department’s Information Asset Register (IAR) is a table of information relating to the important datasets that the department is responsible for. These information assets are managed in line with Cabinet Office guidance to ensure that the data within them is appropriately protected.
The IAR is a live document, and the style of entries varies because text is entered by the individuals responsible for managing the assets – the Information Asset Owners, across the department and its executive agencies.
A number of assets where Freedom of Information exclusions on publication apply have been excluded from the published list but the number of these amounts to less than 1% of the total number of assets held.
