Dataset description

The Organisation for Economy Cooperation and Development (OECD) defines inclusive as "economic growth that creates opportunity for all segments of the population and distributes the dividends of increased prosperity, both in monetary and non-monetary terms, fairly across society". The Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) identified a list of 18 Inclusive growth monitor indicators to provide a benchmark of how an area is performing. This dataset provides data on each indicator. The report and supporting documents can be found at [Inclusive growth indicators for cities](http://www.mui.manchester.ac.uk/igau/research/inclusive-growth-indicators/) . We used these indicators to create an Inclusive Economy Calderdale project data pack in 2017 and 2018. In each indicator, Calderdale is compared against the Leeds City Region and 'Best Borough in the North'. Leeds City Region is a Local enterprise region of ten authorities in Yorkshire: Barnsley, Bradford, Calderdale, Craven, Harrogate, Kirklees, Leeds, Selby, Wakefield and York. Best Borough in the North is a group of northern authorities which Calderdale Council benchmarks its corporate performance against: Barnsley, Bolton, Bury, Calderdale, Doncaster, Gateshead, Kirklees, Knowsley, North Tyneside, Oldham, Rochdale, Rotherham, Sefton, South Tyneside, St Helens, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Wigan and Wirral. The data in these resources are from several sources. Each resource in this dataset includes the data source used. The Inclusive Economy Calderdale data pack was used as to monitor progress with the Calderdale Inclusive Economy Strategy and as part of the Kindness and Resilience data pack for the We are Calderdale assembly. It has previously contributed to the Grow the Economy data pack for [State of Calderdale](/dataset/state-of-calderdale) events in 2018 and 2017.
