<p><span style="font-size: 8.5pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This section outlines the assumptions we have used as a basis for Barnet Council&rsquo;s Municipal Recycling &amp; Waste Strategy and the various evidence collated that supports them&nbsp;</span></p> <p><strong>P1 -</strong> There is no evidence for this assumption, therefore it is not supported</p> <p><strong>P2 -</strong> Members will continue to value waste and recycling services and see their delivery as a key benchmark of the Council's success</p> <p><strong>P3 -</strong> As outlined in the Government Review of Waste Policy in England 2011 and the London Mayor's Municipal Waste Management Strategy, in 2020 there is a 50 per cent recycling, composting and reuse target for household waste, and a 50 per cent recycling, composting and reuse target for municipal waste</p> <p><strong>P4 -</strong> Future targets will be based on Municipal Waste, not just household waste, as is common practise within many EU countries</p> <p><strong>P5 -</strong> The 50 per cent national household waste recycling target in 2020 will increase in future years</p> <p><strong>P6 -</strong> England could follow other parts of the UK in banning certain materials from landfill sites by 2030</p> <p><strong>P7 -</strong> There is no evidence for this assumption, therefore it is not supported</p> <p><strong>P8 -</strong> The waste hierarchy, where the priorities in order are: prevention, preparing for reuse, recycling, other recovery and finally disposal, will continue to exist in its current format, informing policy</p> <p><a href="/publisher/municipal-waste---recycling-strategy">Return to Assumptions &amp; Evidence</a></p> <p><a href="https://engage.barnet.gov.uk/">Return to consultation page</a></p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
